Systemic Growth for Haulers

Good morning, haulers

What We'll Cover:

  • The importance of building a system that works for your business

  • How small, strategic tweaks can drive exponential growth

  • How to transition from working in the business to working on the business

  • Actionable steps to start optimizing your marketing and operational systems

In every business, especially in the fast-paced world of junk removal, dumpster rental, or home services, it’s the systems that really do the heavy lifting. As business owners, our job isn’t to hustle endlessly, wear ourselves thin, or rely on luck. Instead, it's to make those systems stronger, tighter, and more effective—because that's how we get results that scale.

Think of it like owning an oil well that pumps out a million barrels a year. Now, that oil well doesn’t just magically keep running. There’s a system in place that makes it happen. Sure, it needs maintenance, and manpower to monitor it, but at its core, it’s the system that's consistently generating results.

“You can't improve what you don't measure.” Peter Drucker

If you wanted that oil well to produce two million barrels next year, would you double your effort, hire twice as many people, or cross your fingers for good luck? No—because doubling your effort doesn’t double your results. What you'd do is go back to the system. Maybe you’d dig a bit deeper, upgrade the pumps, or streamline the process. A few key changes, and your output increases.

Now, apply that thinking to your business.

If you want to see growth, especially when it comes to your revenue, it’s not about working harder or hoping for a miracle. It’s about working smarter and refining your system. If you have a solid, structured process for lead generation, follow-ups, and client retention, your revenue doesn’t rely on luck or personal effort. It comes from a system that’s always running in the background, continuously generating leads, nurturing relationships, and closing sales.

But here’s where the rubber meets the road:

If you don’t have a system, you are the system.

And here’s the hard truth—when you're the system, you’re relying on yourself to make things happen. Want to double your revenue? That means doubling your workload, your hours, or both. This approach leads straight to burnout. Even if you somehow pull it off once, the long-term sustainability of that hustle is near impossible.

So, how do you break free from this cycle? How do you scale and grow without putting yourself on a path to exhaustion?

The answer lies in the system. When you shift your focus to building and refining your system, your business starts to work for you instead of the other way around. A small tweak can lead to big returns—a better CRM, automated email follow-ups, content that hits the mark with your audience, or optimized ad campaigns. It doesn’t need to be a huge overhaul—just consistent, incremental improvements that compound over time.

So, where do you start?

Start simple.

Maybe the first step is setting up automated lead follow-ups so you’re not stuck manually chasing leads. Or it could be improving your client booking process so customers can book seamlessly without requiring your personal attention for every step. Maybe it’s dialing in your ad spend to pull in more qualified leads.

You don’t need to overhaul everything at once. Focus on one key piece of the puzzle and get it running smoothly. Then, as you build and refine each component of your marketing system, you’ll transition from simply doing the work to owning a system that works for you.

And that’s where the magic happens.

Exponential growth is not about putting in more hours. It’s about stepping out of the daily grind and putting in the work to build a system that will scale with you. Systems take care of the heavy lifting so you can focus on what really matters: providing top-notch service and growing your business.

“The secret of getting ahead is getting started.” Mark Twain

If you're wondering where to start, look at the one part of your process that could use a tune-up—whether it's automating your follow-ups, streamlining your booking system, or optimizing your ads—and tackle that first.

What We Learned:

  • Building a system isn’t about adding more hours to your day, it’s about working smarter, not harder.

  • Small, strategic changes can have a significant impact on your growth.

  • Scaling your business requires transitioning from being the system to owning the system.

  • Exponential growth happens when you focus on building systems that work for you.

Take action today to begin building a system that works for you—because that’s where true business growth happens.

Let me know what part of your system needs some work, and I'll help you tune it up. ✌️
