šŸ ROT #5: Door hangers don’t pay the bills

All right, boys, let’s jump right into it. Why do I recommend Google Ads over all that organic marketing crap like door hangers, flyers, and yard signs?

Ā

Simple — you're not gonna get a lot of fucking jobs out of it. Not only that, but there’s no longevity in it either.

Ā

How long before the city starts calling you, trying to fine you for those illegal yard signs?

Ā

How long until folks in the neighborhood start seeing your door hanger as a nuisance?

Ā

I just don’t think there’s enough return for the time you’re investing. That’s why I call that stuff supplemental marketing — we do it when we’re already on a job.

Ā

Throw some hangers to the neighbors, drop business cards, put out yard signs while the truck’s parked.

Ā

But as your main lead gen strategy? Hell no.

Ā

Organic Marketing: Low Cost, Low Return

Now look — there are some prosĀ to that kind of hustle. It’s cheap. If you’re just starting out and money’s tight, you can go to town with some spray paint and cardboard and call it a day.

Ā

If you’ve got time but no budget, go for it.

Ā

It’s a start.

Ā

But let’s not pretend you’re gonna scale to something big off of this.

Ā

You’re not gonna build a system, step out of your business, and turn it into a machine with fucking yard signs.

Ā

There’s no way.

Ā

That’s beer money work.

Ā

Get you a job or two here and there — maybe — but that’s it.

Ā

The problem is that it doesn’t scale. It’s limited.

Ā

You’re only targeting one street, one zip code, one tiny slice of town at a time.

Ā

It’s hyper-local. It’s labor-intensive.

Ā

And it's not something you can turn into a repeatable, data-driven sales engine. If that’s your main lead strategy, you’ll stay stuck.

Ā

Google Ads: This Is Where the Big Boys Play

Now let’s talk about what actually works — Google Ads. When somebody’s got a problem, like a garage full of shit, and they want it gone today — where do they go?

Ā

Google.

Ā

They type in ā€œjunk removal near meā€Ā and boom — my ad pops up. They click, land on my site, call me, and I close the job.

Ā

Simple.

Ā

That’s the power of intent-based marketing.

Ā

These people aren’t casually browsing.

Ā

They have a problem and they’re looking for a solution — right now.

Ā

That’s why Google Ads leads convert better than anything else. These customers are ready to pay.

Ā

And I’m not just marketing to one street — I’m targeting millions.

Ā

The reach is insane.

Ā

With a yard sign, you’re hitting maybe a couple hundred cars a day.

Ā

With Google Ads?

Ā

You’re in front of thousands of people, 24/7, across every neighborhood you want to service.

Ā

I get to control where my ads show, what zip codes they hit, what devices they hit on. I can track conversions. I know which keyword gave me a call.

Ā

I know how many leads I got from $1,000. That’s how you build a scalable, trackable, data-driven marketing machine.

Ā

Yeah, It Costs — But So Does Sitting Around Broke

Let’s not sugarcoat it — Google Ads can get expensive. Especially if you don’t know what you’re doing.

Ā

I’m in Houston, so I’m marketing to 4 million+ people. That’s a big-ass pond. But that’s the game.

Ā

If you want to catch big fish, you gotta cast a big net.

Ā

Some of you might look at spending $3,500 a month and think that’s wild.

Ā

But guess what? When done right, you can 4x, 5x, 6x, even 9x that money back.

Ā

I’ve seen it. I’ve lived it.

Ā

The other thing?

Ā

Because there’s a higher entry point, not everyone can compete here.Ā You’ve gotta have money, you’ve gotta have a plan, and you’ve gotta have someone who knows how to run these campaigns properly.

Ā

If you try to DIY it without any experience, you’ll burn through your money faster than you can say ā€˜optimization.’

Ā

That’s why I hired a pro. I got Justin Hubbard and the team at AdimizeĀ running my campaigns.

Ā

He keeps the pipeline full, and I just focus on what I do best — closing jobs.

Ā

Wrap It Up — Spend Smarter

I’m not saying throw out the flyers and never touch a yard sign again. Do that stuff when you’re already on a job.

Ā

Use it to layer on top of real marketing.

Ā

But if you’re trying to grow?

Ā

If you want to actually exit the truck, hire people, scale up, and take weekends off?

Ā

You need something stronger.

Ā

Something trackable.

Ā

Something you can turn up like a faucetĀ when you need more jobs.

Ā

That’s what Google Ads gives you. Yeah, it’s pricey. Yeah, you need a pro to run it.

Ā

But it’s the only way I’ve been able to scale profitably.

Ā

So spend your time where it counts. Spend your money where it multiplies.

Ā

And if you’re serious about growing your business? Hit up my guy Justin at AdimizeĀ and get that campaign firing right.

Ā

This is how we get rich off trash.
