📪 HH #89: I wish I knew this sooner

TL;DR – Forget "work on your weaknesses. "Double down on your strengths.

You grow faster by doing more of what you're great at—not wasting time fixing what you're not.

✅ Automate the repetitive

✅ Delegate what drains you

✅ Eliminate what doesn’t move the needle

Stick to what you do best—and let the rest go.That’s how you grow faster, enjoy it more, and stay in your lane.

You've probably heard people say, "work on your weaknesses."

Well guess what... I don't agree with that.

When you spend too much time fixing things you're not good at, you end up ignoring what you're great at. That's not a smart way to grow your business.

I'm not good at backing trailers. I can spend all day practicing, but I still struggle to park them straight. It's just not something I'm good at. It drives me up the wall. I'll end up jackknifed in someone's driveway while they're looking at me from their kitchen window like, "Is this his first time?"

But give me a phone and a computer, and I'm great at bringing in new customers. I know how to market services, create ads, connect with people, and make sure new business keeps coming in.

If I spent all day practicing something I'm not good at, I'd waste time I could be using to get new customers and grow my business.

Instead of putting your effort into fixing weaknesses, use that same time and energy to make your strengths even stronger.

A lot of small business owners try to do everything themselves. They end up doing tasks they're not good at, getting frustrated, and slowing down their growth.

Remember the automate, delegate, eliminate process:

  • Automate tasks that happen regularly but don't need your constant attention. For example, using software to send automatic follow-up emails to your customers.

  • Delegate tasks you aren't good at or that someone else could do faster. Hire people or work with specialists to handle these tasks.

  • Eliminate tasks that don't really help your business grow or make money. If something isn't moving the needle, stop doing it.

When you follow this process, you let others handle your weak areas and you can focus on your strengths.

This way, you get more done, grow faster, and enjoy your work more.

Stick to your strengths and watch your business grow.

That’s the Hauler’s Edge ✌️
