But as it turned out, there were actually over 1,000 people behind the scenes in India watching security footage to make sure the technology worked smoothly.
While some critics saw this as a failure of tech, I saw a lesson in business: Amazon wasn’t afraid to launch before every piece was flawless. They knew that speed of implementation mattered more than waiting years for the perfect technology.
In the hauling world—or any home service business for that matter—speed matters just as much. Think about the last time you had a job that needed an extra push, or a customer waiting on a quote. If they’re calling you, there’s a good chance they need something done now, not in a week. Too often, I see businesses lose opportunities because they don’t realize the magic of speed.
From experience, I know success loves speed. A project loses its edge, and the excitement fades when execution is slow.

Beat them with speed.
If the industry norm is to get a dumpster out in three days, find a way to do it in one. If quotes typically take 48 hours, have it in their inbox in an hour. Sure, charge a premium for that urgency. Clients who value their time will pay for it without a second thought.
And speed isn’t just about the main service. If you can’t drop dumpsters faster, then maybe it’s about how fast you answer calls, respond to quote requests, or follow up after a job. Quick callbacks, rapid email responses, and immediate proposals show clients you’re not just interested in their business—you’re ready for it now.
Affluent customers—those who’ll stick around and even pay more—value time more than money. They’ll recognize your commitment to speed and efficiency and will likely become repeat clients because you respect their time.
By making speed your signature, you won’t just stand out. You’ll attract better clients, earn higher profits, and tap into that undeniable magic that comes when things move quickly. ✌️
