From Obstacles to Open Doors: Kyle Mcanaugh's (from Junk Rescue AZ) Inspiration and Journey in the Junk Industry

What it really takes to grow a junk removal business from the ground up.

Building From the Ground Up

“I’ve been an entrepreneur since an early age! Business in general just motivates me! I like connecting with people and making relationships. Relationships = $$. Once I realized that, I started branding and connecting with others who could use our services.”

That mindset became the foundation for Kyle’s company.

Starting with junk removal in 2017, then adding demolition in 2018 and dumpster rentals in 2019, he built a business around connection and adaptability.

By expanding into multiple services, he created a growth engine that gave his business more stability and faster traction.

If you’re just starting out in the waste management world, Kyle says it simply:

“Start with junk removal. Thank me later.”

That’s how sustainable junk removal business growth begins — by starting small, proving the model, and scaling from there.

Navigating Challenges With Resilience

When Kyle added dumpster rentals, reality hit fast. He didn’t have a full-time driver. His team was already dedicated to junk removal clients, so he had to run the dumpster division himself — managing the truck, finding customers, and learning the equipment on the fly.

He didn’t budget for that role, but he didn’t back down either.

He learned the systems, fixed the trucks, ran the routes, and kept the business moving forward.

“It made for much longer days — learning the equipment, marketing the equipment, repairing the equipment. But it helped us scale to 25 dumpsters and 2 trucks in less than 3 years.”

That’s how real scaling happens — through willingness to grind when others quit.

Kyle’s lesson is simple:

“If you want to add a service or new feature to your business, be willing to put in the extra hours to learn it, master it, and create top-notch training around it for your team.”

The Mindset Behind Growth

Kyle’s advice for anyone chasing junk removal business growth is rooted in mindset and consistency:

“Life is all about problem solving. Of course we’ve had bad days, slow times, and day-to-day issues, but it’s about how you show up. The minute you go quiet, you lose.”

Business doesn’t reward noise — it rewards endurance. Show up, stay visible, and keep moving forward.

“Success isn’t going to happen overnight. You need to prove to your market that you’re legitimate. Give your area a reason to keep calling — great service, strong presentation, and consistent effort.”

That’s how you earn trust and dominate your market long term.

Turning Lessons Into Action

If you’re reading this as a hauler or service business owner, take Kyle’s playbook and make it your own:

  • Stay agile. When things change, adjust fast.
  • Think creatively. There’s always another solution if you’re willing to find it.
  • Collaborate. Partner with other haulers instead of competing — it builds strength and credibility.
  • Over-communicate. Keep customers in the loop and you’ll build loyalty that lasts.
  • Go green. Recycle and donate whenever possible — it shows pride and responsibility.

Every obstacle in this business is an opportunity to grow — if you approach it with discipline, humility, and persistence.

Final Thoughts

“Those times when you stay up late and you work hard; those times when you don’t feel like working — but you do it anyway. That’s the dream. It’s not the destination, it’s the journey.” — Kobe Bryant

Keep hauling with purpose and pride.

Every late night, every repair, every risk — it’s all shaping your next level.
